Steven Moffat explains Billie Piper role in ‘Doctor Who’ 50th
Usually I think Moffat’s explanations are a bit reachy, a bit him trying to justify something that kind of had to be shoe horned in, a bit him kind of just saying “I’m the show runner, I make the decisions, if I say it’s cannon, then it’s cannon.” And to a certain extent he’s right. However, I like this explanation of why Billie Piper didn’t reprise her roll as Rose.
It’s something I’ve been saying for a long time, and it’s true. However, I think it would be even more fun to have a girlfriend who had never seen Doctor Who. Someone who I could introduce to the show, the fandom, the lifestyle. I was introduced to Doctor Who by an ex, and I think for her watching me watch it for the first time was really a treat. I know that I will never be able to watch Doctor Who through for the first time ever again (unless I get amnesia for some reason), but looking on as someone who you are close to watches it for the first time has to be nearly as exciting.
